This twelve-day journey follows the island's cultural heart at a relaxed and comfortable pace, from the dramatic cliffs of South Bali and the artistic charm of Ubud to the volcanic highlands, the peaceful northern coast, and heritage-rich East Bali, taking in sacred temples, traditional villages, rice terraces, waterfalls, volcanic lakes, and royal water palaces, with a full day at leisure in Ubud. Several of the temples and natural sites involve stone steps, cobblestone paths, and uneven terrain, so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.

Day 1 · Dinner
Ngurah Rai International Airport · Kuta
Your private representative meets you in the arrivals hall at Ngurah Rai International Airport and accompanies you on a private transfer to your hotel in Kuta. The remainder of the day is yours to settle into your tropical surroundings at your own pace, perhaps with a first walk along Kuta Beach. In the evening you gather for a welcome dinner at the hotel and a first taste of authentic Indonesian cuisine, with time to run through the days ahead.

Day 2 · Breakfast & Dinner
GWK Cultural Park · Uluwatu Temple · Kecak Dance · Kedonganan
The morning stays relaxed and unhurried around Kuta Beach. In the afternoon you travel to Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park to stand before one of Indonesia's grandest monuments, then continue to Uluwatu Temple, perched dramatically on a cliff edge high above the crashing ocean waves. As dusk falls you take your seat for the hypnotic Kecak performance, a sunset spectacle of rhythmic chanting, mythology, and fire. The evening ends on the shore at Kedonganan with a freshly prepared seafood feast.

Day 3 · Breakfast & Lunch
Tanah Lot · Tegenungan Waterfall · Goa Gajah
Leaving the south behind, you stop first at Tanah Lot, the famed sea temple set upon an offshore rock formation. The road then turns inland to Tegenungan Waterfall, nestled amidst lush tropical foliage, with a traditional Indonesian lunch served nearby. Afterwards you explore Goa Gajah, the Elephant Cave, an ancient sanctuary with a uniquely carved cavern entrance, sacred bathing pools, and tranquil garden pathways; sarongs for temple visits are usually provided on site. You arrive in Ubud by late afternoon and check in to your hotel.

Day 4 · Breakfast & Lunch
Sacred Monkey Forest · Tegallalang Rice Terraces · Taro Elephant Park
The morning begins at the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, where ancient moss-covered temples stand beneath a dense jungle canopy inhabited by long-tailed macaques. You continue to the iconic Tegallalang Rice Terraces to admire the intricate subak irrigation system that has shaped Balinese farming and village life for centuries. Following a countryside lunch, the day ends at the Elephant Park in Taro Village, a sanctuary dedicated to the care and conservation of Sumatran elephants, as an observation and educational visit only.

Day 5 · Breakfast & Lunch
Tirta Empul · Penglipuran Village · Kintamani
Today follows Bali's spiritual thread. You visit Tirta Empul Holy Spring Temple, renowned for its sacred freshwater pools and the traditional Hindu purification rituals still performed there. The journey continues to Penglipuran Village, one of the island's best-preserved traditional hamlets, where manicured bamboo paths lead past family compounds built to a centuries-old plan. From there you climb to Kintamani for a panoramic lunch overlooking the dramatic volcanic caldera of Mount Batur and its shimmering crater lake, where the highland air is noticeably cooler.

Day 6 · Breakfast
A Day at Leisure in Ubud
Today is entirely yours to enjoy at your own pace. You may wish to unwind by the hotel pool with a good book, indulge in an authentic Balinese spa massage, or browse Ubud's art galleries, artisan markets, and boutique craft shops. The town's celebrated café culture and organic eateries reward a slow morning, and a gentle walk along the Campuhan Ridge Trail, with the valley falling away on both sides, is a classic way to spend the late afternoon. Your guide is happy to suggest and arrange anything you wish.

Day 7 · Breakfast & Lunch
Lake Beratan · Ulun Danu Beratan · Gitgit Waterfall · Lovina
You travel north through cool, mist-shrouded mountain countryside to Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, which appears to float serenely upon the waters of Lake Beratan; a light jumper is welcome at this altitude. Descending the northern slopes, you stop at Gitgit Waterfall, surrounded by dense rainforest and reached by a shaded path. By late afternoon you arrive in Lovina, a peaceful coastal resort town known for its laid-back atmosphere and distinctive black-sand beaches.

Day 8 · Breakfast
Lovina Dolphin Cruise · Banjar Hot Springs · Brahma Vihara Arama
You set out early aboard a traditional outrigger boat to spot wild dolphins playing in the calm morning waters off Lovina, returning to the hotel for breakfast and a relaxing morning. Later you unwind in the warm, mineral-rich waters of Banjar Hot Springs, set amidst tropical gardens. The day concludes at Brahma Vihara Arama, Bali's largest Buddhist monastery, where panoramic countryside views and peaceful reflection gardens invite a quiet pause.

Day 9 · Breakfast & Lunch
Beji Temple Sangsit · Tulamben & Amed Coast · Candidasa
Departing eastwards along the coast, you visit Beji Temple in Sangsit, famous for its ornate stonework and intricate carvings dedicated to the rice goddess. The drive then follows the picturesque Tulamben and Amed coastal road, with the sea on one side and volcanic slopes on the other, pausing for lunch overlooking the water. You arrive at your beachfront resort in Candidasa in time for an afternoon of complete relaxation.

Lempuyang Temple · Tirta Gangga · Besakih Mother Temple
An early start takes you to Lempuyang Temple, perched on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang and facing sacred Mount Agung across the valley. You continue to the Tirta Gangga Water Palace, a former royal retreat of decorative stepping stones, ornamental ponds, and fountains. After lunch you visit Besakih Temple, the magnificent "Mother Temple" of Bali, sprawled across the high slopes of Mount Agung and the most important sanctuary on the island.

Goa Lawah · Kerta Gosa · Sanur · Kuta
Journeying south, you stop at Goa Lawah, the ancient Bat Cave Temple built around a natural cavern sanctuary. In Klungkung you explore the Kerta Gosa Pavilion, the historic royal court hall celebrated for its exquisite puppet-style ceiling paintings depicting classic Balinese lore. Lunch is served near Sanur before you return to Kuta for your final evening, perfect for last-minute souvenir shopping or beachside cocktails.

Farewell to Bali · Ngurah Rai International Airport
Savour a final breakfast at your hotel before checking out. Your private driver then transfers you to Ngurah Rai International Airport in good time for your onward flight home, with twelve days of temples, rice terraces, volcanic highlands, and quiet coastlines behind you.
