JAKARTA, Indonesia - The resumption of direct flights between Shenzhen and Jakarta, operated by Shenzhen Airlines since 20 October 2026, is expected to create new opportunities to attract more Chinese visitors to Indonesia. The restored air link offers greater travel convenience while supporting Indonesia's efforts to promote its diverse destinations to the international market.
Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at Indonesia's Ministry of Tourism, welcomed the resumption of the route, highlighting the important role of direct air connectivity in improving accessibility and strengthening Indonesia's competitiveness as an international tourism destination.
According to information from the Ministry of Tourism, Shenzhen Airlines operates flight ZH161 from Shenzhen to Jakarta every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The flight departs at 20.55 local time and arrives in Jakarta at 00.55 WIB the following day. The return service, flight ZH162, departs Jakarta at 01.55 WIB every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, arriving in Shenzhen at 08.05 local time.
The route's resumption comes amid continued growth in Indonesia's Chinese visitor market. Ministry of Tourism data recorded 1,054,007 visits by Chinese travellers between January and August 2026, representing a 16.46 per cent increase compared with 905,002 visits during the same period in 2025.
Jakarta, one of Indonesia's main international gateways, provides convenient connections to a wide range of destinations across the archipelago, including Bali, Yogyakarta, Lombok and Labuan Bajo. Travellers can choose from diverse experiences, from cultural exploration and culinary journeys to spectacular landscapes and outdoor adventures.
The renewed air link also presents opportunities for Indonesia's tourism industry to develop tailored holiday packages that cater to the interests and preferences of Chinese travellers.
Visitors are advised to check the latest flight schedules and availability directly with the airline before making travel arrangements.
